Juneteenth Flag
When all of the Black Lives Matter protests began back in June 2020, the world felt scarier and angrier then its ever been. Many of us were very unsure of where to go from where we were at that point in time.
This month also marked the first year Juneteenth was popularly being recognized as a holiday that should be celebrated. With all of the civil unrest, I think some folks (including myself) saw this as a turning point that Black and Brown people can no longer be ignored or overlooked in this country moving forward.
During all of this, I was processing my emotions between the tragic death of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter protests that I felt compelled to make an illustration of the Juneteenth flag.
