Juneteenth Flag

When all of the Black Lives Matter protests began back in June 2020, the world felt scarier and angrier than it’s ever been. Many of us were unsure where to go from there.

This month also marked the first year Juneteenth was widely recognized as a holiday worth celebrating. With all of the civil unrest, I think some folks (including myself) saw this as a turning point where Black and Brown people can no longer be ignored or overlooked in this country moving forward.

During all of this, I was processing my emotions between the tragic death of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter protests, and I felt compelled to make an illustration of the Juneteenth flag.
